Major 3rds

To do this tutorial you need to know what a tone is.

Summary

Two notes are a major 3rd apart if they’re 2 tones apart.

  • So C-E is a major 3rd because C-D is a tone and D-E is a tone,
  • and D-F# is a major 3rd because D-E is a tone and E-F# is a tone.

To do

Test yourself on major 3rds, remembering to include some that start on black notes.
