Haydn – Andante from the “Surprise” Symphony beginner piano arrangement

An arrangement of the theme from the slow movement of Haydn’s “Surprise” Symphony, so called because of loud chord in bar 8 designed to wake up the audience after the quiet bars 1-7. Part of my free intermediate classical course. Click the image below to download the PDF.

“Ten.” is short for “tenuto”, which in this case means “held” (i.e. not staccato). Exercise no. 1 is designed to prepare you for bars 7-8, and exercise no.2 is designed to then prepare you or bars 3-8.
